Low testosterone affects a third of young men with type 2 diabetes
New research has revealed that approximately one third of men aged 18-35 with type 2 diabetes have low testosterone levels.
Dr.
Paresh Dandona and colleagues from the State University of New York at
Buffalo measured circulating testosterone levels in 38 men with type 1 diabetes and 24 men with type 2 diabetes. Results showed that testosterone levels were significantly lower in participants with type 2 diabetes than they were in men with type 1 diabetes. 33% of participants with type 2 diabetes were
found to have low testosterone levels, whilst 58% had testosterone
levels that were below normal for their age. In comparison, just 8%
type 1 diabetic patients had testosterone levels below the lower limit
of normal.
A Nutraceutical is any vitamin,
mineral, supplement, trace element or bio-botanical plant based substance which
has known healing value to people and is produced or isolated for public
consumption with the highest purity – pharmaceutical grade purity. It is a very
exacting process to make a true Nutraceutical which involves sending the
healing substances from plants to a biotechnology company where the active
ingredient of benefit to people is highly concentrated and then standardized to
a milligram dose so it can be controlled properly.
Human Growth Hormone and Testosterone by Candice Lane, M.D.
The latest Indiana Jones movie disappoints me with the shuffling, slurring, grumpy old man that used to be Indy. In contrast, Sly Stallonelast Rambo is as physical and dynamic as ever. My 17 year old dubbed Ford an old man, but pegged Stallone as in his 40 Playing action figures, both men are in their 60. Whats the difference? Growth hormone and testosterone.
Many athletes credit drugs with improving their performance, but
some of them may want to thank their brain instead. Mounting evidence
suggests that the boost from human growth hormone (HGH), an increasingly popular doping drug, might be caused by the placebo effect.
In a new double-blind trial funded by the World Anti-Doping Agency,
in which neither researchers nor participants knew who was receiving
HGH and who was taking a placebo, the researchers asked participants to
guess whether or not they were on the real drug. Then they examined the
results of the group who guessed that they were getting HGH when, in
fact, they had received a placebo. That group improved at four fitness
tests measuring strength, endurance, power and sprint capacity. The
study participants who guessed correctly that they were taking a placebo
showed much less improvement, according to preliminary results
presented at the Society for Endocrinology meeting in June. The
researchers are currently analyzing the results of the other
participants for future publication.
